Most 12 x 24 surface grinders are equipped with spindle motors in the 5 hp range. The Clausing CSG3A1224 uses a 5 hp direct-coupled spindle motor running at 1,750 rpm, which is well-suited for heavy-duty grinding of steel, cast iron, and tooling materials in production and job shop environments.

12 x 24 surface grinders like the Clausing CSG3A1224 require three-phase power at either 230 or 460 volts. Single-phase power is not compatible; facilities operating on a different voltage will need a step-up or step-down transformer to meet the machine's electrical requirements.
