CNC Turning Center for Power Generation Component Machining

Every CNC machining center includes: (1) the spindle, which rotates the cutting tool or workpiece; (2) the CNC control unit, such as a FANUC or Siemens controller that executes programmed instructions; (3) the axis drive system, consisting of servo motors and ballscrews for precise movement; and (4) the tool holding system, typically a turret or automatic tool changer for efficient multi-operation machining.

Our CNC Turning Centers range from 20 HP for general production up to 75 HP for heavy-duty power generation and oil field applications. The FEMCO HL-55/1250 and Clausing CNC Lathe offer 35–75 HP spindle configurations paired with two-speed gearboxes, ensuring sufficient torque for interrupted cuts and large-diameter workpieces common in power utilities and energy sector machining.

The Clausing CNC Lathe and FEMCO HL-55/1250 offer swing-over-bed capacities ranging from 35 inches up to 80 inches depending on the model configuration. This makes them ideal for machining oversized power generation components such as turbine shafts, generator housings, and large flanges that require substantial swing clearance.

Tailstock availability varies by model. The FEMCO HL-55 NT and HL-55/1250 are chucker-style machines without tailstock support, ideal for short, large-diameter parts up to 24 inches. The Clausing CNC Lathe features a hydraulic tailstock with a rotating quill, programmable body movement, and a 6 MT taper, suitable for longer workpieces requiring between-center support.

All FEMCO models utilize FANUC CNC controls, known for reliability, ease of programming, and widespread service support. The Clausing CNC Lathe offers FANUC Oi control as standard, with optional Siemens CNC controls available. Both platforms provide precise axis control, CSS capability, and compatibility with modern CAM software for power generation component programming.

All machines are sold with delivery, professional installation by trained service engineers, and operator training. Ongoing technical support is provided by T.R. Wigglesworth Machinery Company.
